I hope to see the backlit keyboard back also. It should be a standard MacBook feature.
I think I'll be satisfied with gaming on an Air thanks to OnLive. In fact, it's the perfect machine for it. Just plug in a wireless 360 controller (and optionally an external monitor/HDTV) and play.

Microsoft partnered with Nokia out of desperation. Not because there products are going to be any good.

The Yonah is not related to Intel's big disaster chip, the Pentium D 810, but was botched to the point that the engineers turned off EMT64!
Really? I had understood that Yonah was close architecture wise to the previous Pentium M, while Merom represents the first "true" Core architecture.
Cheers.

This seems like a good move from Apple...very strategic. If I didn't know better, they are throwing Creative's dead corpse at Microsoft before Microsoft join the battle...
I can see it now, Steve has a secret hideaway with big tabletop toy soldiers and BOOM! Creative's just fell down...hehe.;)

It makes sense. iProducts are increasingly becoming ubiquitous, therefore they will become more profitable for malware developers to attack. It's not a McAfee sales pitch so much as it's stating the obvious. Same with Android. No, it is the same nonsense that Microsoft and its apologists have been saying for the past decade. It isn't any truer today than it was a decade ago.

Still loving my 21.5 inch i3 iMac.
I am hoping it gets a chassis redesign though.
I'm still loving mine too :) I did, however, just put it up for sale on CL though. Just to see if I get any bites. I'm not going to worry if I do or don't sell it though. It's still an amazing machine

Nice. My 17 MBP (Early 2009) will be getting close to the end of its life cycle by then, allowing me to easily slide into a new MBP.

There is an upside to being exempt. While it's true I don't get paid extra if I work 45 hours this week, I will also not be paid less if I work 35 hours next week. In my job one is just as likely as the other.

Wow so if that's in XP already it's gotta be a feature in Leopard.
You call that Application Core Affinity or what's the correct full termonology? And where in the OS do you choose the applications to assign x number of cores with that dialog box.
Yes, Windows has APIs to set affinity masks (a mask representing a set of one or more cores) at both the process and thread level. Thread affinity must be a subset of process affinity.
The task manager lets you set that from the GUI.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dllproc/base/setthreadaffinitymask.asp
SetThreadAffinityMask
Sets a processor affinity mask for the specified thread.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dllproc/base/setthreadaffinitymask.asp
SetProcessAffinityMask
Sets a processor affinity mask for the threads of the specified process.
Looks like they're ready for a lot of cores coming up?!?!
32. I'd say that's planning ahead.
On 64-bit Windows, it can show up to 64 processors....
By the way, the image a few back showed an old version of Windows, the current version only shows the number of CPUs available on the current system (you only see 64 on a big box ;) ).

my cat has told me that there will be a 23" chin-less iMac with the new Core 2 Duo chips, 1gig std, wireless kbd and mouse std. Or he is just hungry - hard to tell just what he is saying but he has friends in high places (trees mostly)
still heres hoping he's spot on
I'm hoping he is too!
My cat told ME that there will be Merom based iMacs released tomorrow. That, or she wants fresh water. I'm not sure which.

Or if they want the simple satisfaction of having a C2D laptop on order, they can always pre-order one at Dell, HP, etc., then cancel that pre-order when the MBP C2D are announced. That way, in spirit, they can have a mac Core 2 Duo machine on pre-order right now. :)

Maybe....
Apple has other suppliers or manufacturers lined up for the items that Samsung produces for Apple at a better price than Apple is currently getting....Apple and Samsung have pre-existing contracts that cannot be terminated by either without cause....
So Apple files a lawsuit based on copyright infringement (questionable) and as terms of the (potential) settlement....Apple is free to go to other suppliers for the items they need....

but there are ways to make Apple life hell and cause huge amounts of problems with out breaking the contract.
Examples are shipments get delayed. Takes longer to process orders.
Apple needs to rush order something and get it quickly..... Guess what not going to happen.
I have seen the back world of things like this. Samsung can do a lot with out breaking the contract. Apple is gaining a reputation not to be trusted in any way shape or form.
No. There aren't. Unless they've gone crazy and don't need a $5 billion partner. Money talks. Not hurt feelings over phone patents.
It really makes no difference. No amount of you wishing hardship on Apple will cause them actual hardship.
Apple has the iPhone and untouchable mindshare.
Samsung is a parts supplier that can be replaced.
Guess who my money's on to come out of this laughing?
There is only one group who's trust Apple actually needs: consumers.
Apple's got that locked. As a result, there are always suppliers wanting to cash in. Apple doesn't need their partners. Apple's partners need Apple. It starts with great ideas for great products. That begins with Apple. The rest is logistics.
Samsung is just sabre-rattling. This in fact, will have ZERO effect on their supply agreements with Apple. It's about a phone. Samsung isn't going to sacrifice their $5+ billion partner when consumers can't get enough of all things Apple. Samsung needs Apple's business.
With that in mind, the fact that Apple insists on fostering negative energy, launching a law suit, and showing their pro war position to the world, is very revealing of who they are.
Unable to be a good corporate citizen, unable to satisfy their greed as they rake in more profits than the competition, Apples looking rather desperate. Nothing will ever be enough.
Are you new?
They have always been this way. And the result: PROFIT.
All Apple needs are customers. And they've got no shortage of them. Customers like YOU, for example. You paid for Apple gear, you consent to what they do. You have no cause to complain.
There is no such thing as a "good corporate citizen." It's competitive and very cutthroat.
Samsung will not make things difficult for Apple, or covertly enact some form of vengeance by deliberately messing with supply agreements. That is simply inviting more legal trouble. This is a PHONE issues, NOT a supply agreement issue.

Cmd-C = Copy

Grab will snap a picture of a window, the entire screen etc. There is also print to PDF.
CMD-X does NOT cut a file and let you move it. I am in SL right now. DOESN'T work.

With all the programming and money toward the Sony owned rights, etc., the tech isn't worth it in a computer except to a small percentage.
I agree. Blu-ray is nice, but on a computer, even a 27" iMac, it's not reaching it's full potential, IMO. Besides, you can always input your PS3 to your iMac if necessary.
You are also stuck in current times. Physical media will be dead by then, everything is going to be cloud based, there will be no such thing as a physical copy of movies any more :)
What kind of media do you expect that "cloud" to store data with? Your statement delves into the realm of privacy concern.

The logo on the center of the record is an apple sliced in half. Again, it looks nothing like Apple's logo.
You're right. Apple doesn't use an Apple for their logo.
