I think its the kid's responsibility here. The OP had every intention of paying for his purchase, but the cashier dropped the ball big time. When you take on a job, you assume the responsibilities that come with it. Making a mistake that big will have consequences. I would hate to have someone that makes mistakes like that working for me.
Hogwash. The cashier made a mistake. At the moment the mistake was made ONE party knew about it and one didn't. The OP, who knew that a mistake had been made said nothing about it. He should have. People can defend this guy all they want, but the fact of the matter is that he deserves the flames he's getting. An ethical person would have said "you forgot to charge my card" and paid the outstanding balance.

Hopefully Apple will stick with the best for now. (Intel) I've seen the promises AMD has but it's leaning toward 4x4 to compete with Intel. What's on the lower end for the average user when a Core 2 beats the pants off of what AMD has out.

If not today, we could see an MB/MBP update sometime after Sep 16th when the free ipod nano promo expires. That's my best guess, but even i am hoping desperately for the update to happen today!

That is so crazy it's ridiculous. There is no evidence to support your statement. Mac OS X is not headed towards the "walled garden" universe that everyone seems to freak out over. Apple's just giving people who don't know anything about computers an easy way to purchase and find applications.
I do agree, however, that by not including applications outside of the Mac App Store Apple is diminishing the value of the award. I believe it is within their right to do so, although I don't like it.
Oh certainly they won't lock OSX down in the near future but it is a clear shun for any developer that doesn't want to play in their sandbox and take a 30% hit for the privilege.
Then again, we didn't have any sort of 'App store' 3 years ago. I'd say that's a pretty rapid pace for a big change in the way people are buying applications.

I think the humble DVD-9 is going to be the 'top dog' for movies for quite a while yet. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, plus HD televisions with 780/1080i/p etc resolutions are difficult for the average consumer to understand, never mind get excited about enough to pay out thousands of pounds/dollars for - unless they're cimema-philes or geeks. (No offence meant.)
These massive storage mediums are only useful for computer users for the foreseeable future, where photo & music collections can be backed up to fewer discs.

Video right now is where audio was about 5 years ago -- new, higher density, higher quality disc formats being released (SACD/DVD-Audio then, HD-DVD/Blueray now), but consumers and the media focused not on that "-ophile" stuff but rather on downloads. Then it was MP3 filesharing and the attempts by Apple and others to start legal download services; now it's bittorrent on the one hand and the ITunes Movie Store, Amazon's Unbox, etc on the other. People seem to be more interested in convenience than the highest possible quality.

UK prices have not changed still �529 for the 20" and �779 for 23", i'm ready to buy a new Mac Pro 2.66 & a Cinema Display but not if the UK prices dont drop.

So am I right in thinking that the 23" now has a new 'panel' - so there shouldn't be pink cast etc issues with these new ones?
Also seeing as they're cutting the prices is it worth waiting for true next gen monitors or what...
