Two things
1) it seems like people are overexagerating with the "having to slide the clickwheel up to call anyone" thing. Everyone I know uses a contact list almost exclusively, something which could very easily be incorporated into the standard ipod interface (already is sort of). Calling the odd number i'd be fine with sliding it up. Perhaps they could introduce some really innovative contact list stuff software wise to make it even less necessary to "dial" people.
2) Maybe all the touchscreen stuff we think is for the video ipod is really for the phone and the dialpad and clickwheel both use a touch sensitive thing to work.

LMAO...are you serious? You find another carrier in the US that has unlimited data and has the iPhone?. Don't say Verizon because Verizon has already stated the unlimited plans were TEMP and only to draw in new customers at the launch of their iPhone. They made clear, those plans will be going away.

You�re right there. And what�s sad is Apple is chasing off (in this case) one of its best developers. Rogue Amoeba makes great software, and comes highly recommended from many people in the Mac community � AirFoil, Audio Hijack Pro, Fission, etc.
You know what�s interesting is while browsing around with my iDisk app on the iPhone, I noticed the iDisk app displays Adobe�s Photoshop icon for PSD files. I wonder if Adobe gave Apple explicit permission to use their Photoshop file icon in the iDisk app?

Amazing! I totally agree, I don't mind paying higher taxes here for better services and better rights.
I know someone who works in the public sector was told to get his working hours down because he was working more than the amount he was supposed to by law in his job. Was told to get it down to 42 hours a week I think.

About 30 years ago, his holiness Ronald Reagan fired over 11 thousand Air Traffic Controllers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_Air_Traffic_Controllers_Organization_(1968)) for going on strike. One of their most important demands was for a 32 hour week, so that they would not be falling asleep on the job.
Today, a bunch of the scabs he hired to replace those controllers are retiring, putting a great deal of pressure on the system. If nothing else, I think the 32 hour week is a good idea if you like flying and arriving safely. Sadly, Reagan's firm stand has left us in a perilous situation, with controllers snoring in the tower and planes landing without help. So the NTSB's solution is to require that they get at least 9 hours between shifts, which I think is pretty scary.
Most of us would prefer these guys fresh and alert. All we need is one impressive crash (that will be blamed on this president) to get this issue really pushed to the forefront � which will probably result in a controller getting fired and no real improvement to the system.

Your logic is half-baked. The MacPro has one specific function which the iMac will probably never have: instant customization. You can stack tons of drive space in them, tons of RAM, and choose any sort of monitor config.
Sure, iMacs might be able to do something like that, but with a lot of garbage floating around and cluttering everything. Also, the processors in the Pro are always beefier.
However, I'd agree that for almost all people in the market, an iMac would be just as good as a MacPro. In 4 years I will probably replace my 2007 Pro with an iMac. Spending $4000 for a good Pro isn't worth it compared to $2000 for an iMac.

Drunk driver checkpoints are the biggest law enforcement scam being perpetrated on the public at large. These checkpoints do no better than roving patrols but cops do them because they can hassle the public without probable cause and bust them for other minor infractions. They also more likely to have them in poor neighborhoods where people may be late paying their insurance or vehicle fees. They make big money from impounding poor people's cars.
They pad the bottom line of the Law Enforcement Industrial Complex and so that's why they have them. It has NOTHING to do with justice.

Good luck with reporting my plates. I've done that to drunk drivers before, the 911 operator has told me "We're sorry sir, we cannot divert officers based on heresy." Also, see above: My uncle is the traffic court judge in the jurisdiction where I did this, good luck getting a ticket to stand.

As I said, fewer and fewer spaces where public debate can take place. Shopping malls are the same - 'public spaces' that aren't. Soon streets that have been public for years will start to be be privatised to provide 'better value for taxpayers' and the takeover will continue.

Apple goes to all sorts of lengths to protect media files with FairPlay, yet they don't care about stuff like this. Shows where their focus is; protecting their own stuff and not giving a flying f--- about the user. :mad:

As for being tracked, I couldn't care less. In the UK, there are so many CCTV cameras, you can't do anything without it being recorded. No point getting upset about it...

The only problem with Conroe vs. Merom in an iMac is the heat production. I am sure it is possible to keep an iMac with a Conroe cool enough. What I think is very hard to achieve is to keep it cool and quiet at the same time. I have never, ever _heard_ the iMac in my office, and that is really nice.
Of course it would be possible to put something into the Energy Saver Preferences like a "Keep Quiet" option. If selected, processing power could be cut down when the iMac gets too hot to be cooled down without making much noise. You would still have the potential to get full performance if you choose so.

Good. The unibody design was never great, it was just so-so. The AlBook powerbook that preceded it had a MUCH better design.
The TiBooks where probably my fav of all PowerBook/MacBook Pro finish and design. :D

Well, thank you, I've heard of Home Sharing. I use it myself on my desktop and laptop. I was referring to an one-click streaming solution like Airtunes. More like "click there to stream music to my mac which is connected to my sound system" than "go to preferences, enable sharing; now wait while I browse your shared library".
I just wish to stream to my mac which is connected to my sound system from other Airtunes capable devices. That involves a hack only on my part and nothing at all to be done on other computers or iOS devices. Call me cheap, but that would be convenient to me and my friends.
To sum up, all I want is a Banana-TV equivalent but just for audio. It looks like it's just a matter of time.

I already have an AppleTV hooked up to our main A/V center, plus several AEs connected to self-contained CD radios in our kitchen, bedroom, etc. What's missing is the client I can run on my Mac that advertises it as another AirPlay remote speaker so iTunes running on the server in the basement can stream to it. Would be great if it included the ability to control iTunes like the iOS Remote App does.
