thanks guys for the info. I agree Cathay is probably the best option. I am very skeptical about Air India. Have been hearing negative comments since I was a kid, when my dad a was a frequent overseas business traveller. Things might have changed lately but the bad impressions linger on.
JAL looks promising too.
My mom doesn't need the nozzle-bum-wash as much as she needs to sit on the toilet because she cannot squat due to bad knees. And that is available with every airline I imagine.
I agree though the "bidget" would a plus for some seniors and honestly I think its also cleaner.
In our case, however, we need leg room, wheel chair facility (very imp), veggie indian food (the food on emirates wasn't up to the mark) and decent service.

This is what I can speculate from logical point of view. There can be an 2nd RFE which is basically seeking more clarification on an earlier RFE. These kind of RFE will be pretty much immediate to the preceeding RFE (within 1 -2 months)
After that hopefully there should not be any unrelated RFE with the assumption that IO has taken a complete look at the file before issuing a RFE. We do not want a RFE for BC and when that is replied IO sending another one for Medical or Marriage Certificate. We should reasonably assume that IO has taken a good look at the application before sending RFE.
But we can expect RFE for cases that are current. The reason being most of these cases might be lying with CIS for over 2-3 years before getting current and considering the current state of economy they might issue a RFE for updated EVL to check if the person is still working. That is again just a pure guess no one knows how CIS works in reality

Forgive me but being an active volunteer I am seeing state of the affair so was compelled to make these comments.
You are on 8th year of extension and this is a very stressful moment for you.
IV probably can't help you a lot at this time as it is after the fact but it can help others before such thing happens.
We are a growing union, which is run by people like you and me. If folks are not actively involved loobying for a) getting laws changed b) developing relationships with law makers and USCIS c) creating leverage of our unity over lawyers, these incidents will continue to happen.
If we had become powerful enough, then in the cases like this IV would have hold high level meeting with USCIS to resolve this gentleman problem. But unfortunately, we are still a strugling union to get members to volunteer.

I checked my case status in July 07 and it displayed case closed. I called my lawyer and basically the response I got was she did not respond in time to a rescruitment instructions report sent by DOL in March 07 and hence the case was closed. My company has been supportive through this process and its only my lawyer whose been horrible.
While part of me wanted to do strangle her, the other part (guessing the sendible part) made me realize I needed to get this resolved.
1. Have any of you been in this situation and had your case reopened and if so, how?
2. Can I change my attorney in this situation and have him/her try to get the case reopened?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I am in same situation and had a meeting with my attorney to get more information, according to his experience with all his cases to date, he said there is 70 - 30 ratio, 70% have recieved rfe and 30% got approved without rfe. And after july fiasco he said it's better to wait for rfe and respond rather then ammending 485 application, now that's another question that my attorney will easily make it to top 10 list of all time worst attorneys. So I am looking for second opinion too.
So I would say wait till you get an RFE and respond ASAP.

Is it required to inform USCIS after you change jobs after 180 days using

Is it safe to say that if your GC applying company does NOT revoke I-140 after you change jobs, that you are OK not to tell USCIS about your change ?

The receipt number will start either with SRC or LIN depending on whether it is Texas or Nebraska.

where do we get to read the receipt number from the back of the check ?..i see so many ppl write that they cud get the receipt number from the back of the check and with that the cud track the fate of receipt notice.The back of my cleared check has so many numbers but they are all overlapping and unreadable.Do any1 else has the same issue?
can any1 tell what is the window period b ween check clearance and recipt notice?

The 300D and D50 would be too limited in my humble opinion, such that if you plan to buy a body and keep it for a while, you'll run into their "issues" after a little while. Definitely consider 350D or D70(s), along with as good of a lens as you can afford. The 18-70 DX kit lens for Nikon cameras is good from what I've seen from it, but the Canon 18-55 kit lens is sometimes said not to be quite so good. I don't know what to recommend on the Canon side, but there are plenty of folks here who can help you out on that. :)
For what it's worth, I got into photography with an old manual film camera when I was about 9. Then, a few years ago for a very short time, I used a Kodak P&S digital, before getting disgusted with it and going back to film. Finally, this spring my wallet suffered major damage with a used D1 and a couple of lenses (24-85 zoom and 90mm macro). College (this fall) will probably put an end to my photographic acquisitions for a while, but now that the Luminous Landscape did an article on video cameras, I have even more stuff to dream / drool about. Must... hide... credit card... now..! :D

Dont rely on the realtor to determine the home price for you. DO some homework...compare homes in the vicinity and come up with a price thats reasonable and mos importantly AFFORDABLE to you.
Is it legal for a licensed real estate agent to share commission with a non licensed person - like a buyer?

I was looking for getting VISA for my Niece and Nephew, who are below 14yrs. But I didnt find an option for them not going to consulate.
it take more effort n paperwork to get the visa without going to consulate even for the kids below 14, better option is to go to consulate.
My 4 yr old niece went in person for the visa along with an adult of course.

FYI: Ours went to R Williams on July 2nd/NSC and there is thread on this forum if you are interested. We heard nothing. According to the posts, if any of R Williams cases had any action, they happened at other service centers. You person might be sending the submittals around as well if they were received on July 2nd. Hang in there :cool:

Doing smart things like this may get you deported from the US without any chance of return for 5 years . Be honest and follow the law .It against the law to work in one country and get paid in another .
Thanks for the reply. We didn't really work. But my spouse came here in 2003 march. Then she was in vacation for next 1 year the finally resigned. Indian employer gave relieving letter in April 2004. So Practically is my spouse an employee of indian compnay until Apr 2004 and can it be shown towards the experience? That's it.

Check with the employer and the designated lawyer if they received a notice saying 140 denied.If not check with your employer and see how the trend is wrt 140 approvals recently if anyone got approvals or any denials if yes is it an Ability to pay or Education.Either way you can file a Motion to reopen for both 140 and 485.I believe it has to be done in 30 days. So you should really rush getting this done.I would advise doing it from a very experienced lawyer than the actual lawyer who filed your original cae.

Whats the process to do stamping in canada ? My visa has expired since Jan' 2008 - is it same like India ? Do we still get stuck with PMIS or is it okay to go on I-94 and keep the same to re-entry if any issues ?
