I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS...this morning 10:00AM CST we got the CPO emails for both of us...
I just can not thank Aall of you enough and the IV community for the support they have provided over the last few years - especially since Sept 1.
THANK YOU GOD - THANKS FOR LISTENING.
I will be around - not going anywhere and will support IV efforts!
BEST OF LUCK FOR THOSE WHO ARE WAITING...Believe me "appka bhi number aayega" I was loosing hopes - since Sept 1 when saw number of approvals after my PD/RD/ND etc..but there is really nothing that can predict this system.

Now the reports saying both parties have an eye on 2008 presidential
election so they wont do any controversial bill. Same thing was said before the midterm election. So once they after the presidential election would they again say they have to face the midterm in 2010 so no controversial bills?

I applaud you for starting this effort but the petition needs correction, You are calling Lou Dobbs of lying but all the instances you quote are from Sen Tancredo . You may accuse Lou Dobbs of supporting these lies by letting them stand unchallenged not correcting them.

I suppose it would help if IV core team would discuss with members about their target contribution and percentage of goal already met. i know it might not be possible to give out the exact numbers but we can always have a percentage % on the site showing how much more is needed. This will also energize active and non active members and give them something definite to work towards..

Please continue to follow up, and in the meantime, send a letter to everyone you can (senator/USCIS sec./first lady/go for Infopass).
Edit: Forgot to mention, please print out the email response from CIS Ombudsman and put it as a supporting document when you send your case details to USCIS Sec. and others. Any response you get from USCIS, you should put it as a supporting document when you send your case details to higher authorities.

NSC is known to create head ache for everyone. This another case of their incompetence.
1> This H1 petition was approved 1 year ago. I have the I-797 Notice with me. Then why did they re-open this case after 1 year of approval?
They would have re-opened the case based on some evidence that became available to them after the approval or simple because they don't have work to do. I'm just speculating, in such cases they issue a NOIR requesting additional information. Can you post the NOIR? The intent is to curb H1B and greencard and NOT providing good service.
2> My I-131, I-485, I-765 applications has been accepted and chqs encashed. What happens to them now?
Greencard is filed for a permanent future job, you dont need a H1B to get one. If you get your EAD, you are SAFE whatever happens to your H1B as you can continue to work on EAD.
If the above is regarding your employer, beware they might start reviewing your approved I-140.
If you acquire 180 days and I-140 remain approved and you use AC21 to join another employer or if your I-485 gets approved. USCIS cannot do anything - Nada.
3> What about my H1-transfer which is pending?
All that will happen in the worst case is your H1b will get revoked. You can take a couple of months vacation and come back on your approved I-131 and work on EAD till you get your greencard.
Don't go nuts, keep cool; The best is yet to come!

Hello,
With hard 7% limit per country; our numbers within EB category are at 10,000 (it's not a huge number even if we apply 7% on EB+FB).
There are at least 250,000 people waiting on GC from India alone, at this rate it will take 25 years.
Am I wrong, I really hope I'm terribly wrong.

Cannot argue with your experience. But I still think providing a convenient automatic way to pay small amounts for a specific period of time will help. (the suggestion of $30 over 6 months or 60 dollars over 6 months etc.) Sure people can do it on their own, schedule it, remember it and have the will to do it et al.
But when I put myself in the donor's shoes, it feels like the old times when there were no automated payments for electric bills. :D
This has been discussed umpteen number of times, but I am going to share a personal experience here (shared once already on a similar thread).
For the last state chapter (Diwali Mela) event in North CA we were accepting ANY AMOUNT for a contribution, but were suggesting $25 or $50.
How many contributed? About 20 from a state chapter that boasts of 150+ members.
The fact is, people do one of the following:
1. look at the recommended amount and contribute that amount (most of our donors were $25, and a few paid $50)
2. pay a high $ amount simply because (s)he is convinced he wants to help as much as possible! (Most of the volunteers for the event paid $50 or more, and three of them paid $90/$100 each)
3. DO NOT pay, no matter what, as they are not convinced it will help reduce their waiting time
One more time... IV is not turning anyone away. If you can only contribute $10 a month, please feel free to paypal it yourself to donations at immigrationvoice.org
Like the squirrel who helped Lord Rama construct the bridge (sorry for making this a slightly "Indian" post, but can't think of a better analogy) every small bit is going to help IV, and will be most appreciated!
However, the bridge to the GC is a long one, and our Lord Rama (IV) needs thousands of hard-working and contributing monkeys to make it a reality:D

We will update members who pledge how to finalize their pledge by any of the following methods based on subsequent expert advice:
1) Should they contribute to IV directly
2) Send a personal check to Aman.
3) Other method like IV reimbursing Aman and others from the common donation corpus.
